THANKGIVING DAY HOT MEALS AVAILABLE!

For all in need of a hot turkey dinner in our surrounding communities (Avon, Elyria, Eaton, Olmsted Twp., Olmsted Falls, and North Olmsted), please RSVP for a meal Nov. 1st – 18th through our church office, 440-327-8753, Leave a message with your name, address, and a phone number and you will get a call back within 48 hours to confirm your request. The meal will be delievered on Thursday, Nov. 28th (Thanksgiving Day) from 11am and 1pm and will be hot turkey, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, roll and piece of pie.

Monthly Mission Focus- DECEMBER 2024

DECEMBER MISSION FOCUS: This month we are asking our church community to adopt a child from the Giving Tree and to donate food to North Ridgeville Community Care at their location: 34015 Center Ridge Road (behind Arby’s restaurant) in North Ridgeville. Their open hours are Mondays & Tuesdays 9:30am – 1:30pm and Thursdays from 3 – 6pm.

Hispanic Ministry Monthly Worship Service

The congregation of Fields United Methodist Church is revitalizing a Hispanic Ministry effort the first Sunday of every month at 12:30pm. The Hispanic Ministry has been created to support the roughly 800-1100 available persons of Hispanic heritage within a 4-5 mile radius of Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, Ohio. The Ministry provides our brothers and sisters in Christ of Hispanic heritage with an opportunity to study The Word and to fellowship together in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The service will be in the church sanctuary with special guests presenting the message or meditation for that day. All parts of the service will be in Spanish.

The first Sunday of the month is traditionally Communion Sunday. On these days, if there is no ordained minister for the first Sunday Hispanic service, then Communion will be served using the elements consecrated during the morning English service. MUSIC MINISTRY

Musicians Needed

We are looking for volunteer instrumentalists for our contemporary worship service. If you play drums, guitar, keyboard or another instument we would love you have you join our group! Please contact the church office and we’ll get you in touch with our Common Union music leader, Chuck Collins.

If you would like to volunteer to provide special music for our 9am or 11am Sunday worship please contact the church office and we will get you in touch with our worship team.

Common Union Choir

Common Union is our contemporary worship praise choir. This group practice on Thursday evenings at 6pm in our Sanctuary and sing for Sunday worship at 11am. The songs used by this group consists of traditional hymns to the newest releases in Christian music. This group is composed of vocalists, and common instruments (guitar & somtimes a keyboard). If you would like more information about joining this group, please contact the church office.

Handbell Choir

Our handbell choir is a great way to worship the Lord through music. September through May this choir plays once a month at our 9am worship service and rehearses once a week on Tuesday evenings at 7PM in the music room. This group also plays at specical holiday worship services and at nursing homes. If you have never rung bells before, we will help you learn, all are welcome!

Stephen Ministries

and Griefshare

Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2, NRSV).

Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties.

Care receivers are individuals in the congregation or community who are going through a crisis or life difficulty. Potential care receivers first meet with a pastor or Stephen Leader, who assesses their needs for care and matches them with a Stephen Minister. The caring relationship lasts for as long as the need persists.

GRIEFSHARE

Our Stephen Ministry group hosts several 13 week Griefshare grief support gatherings each year. This winter 2025 schedule will be updated in December. Typical meeting times are on Mondays from 6:30-8PM in room 218.

Community Meal Ministry

Once a month FIelds UMC provides a free dinner available to all in the surrounding community who may be in need of dinner the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 5:30-6:30pm in our Fellowship Hall. These meals work in conjuction with the North Ridgeville Community Care End of the Month Crock Pot meals available at other churches around the city. Each night of the last week of the month you can get a free meal. The office has a list of all the locations and times available.

Our meal dates are:

Young-At-Heart Ministry

Are you 55+ and retired? Then come join us for food, fun and fellowship. Be a part of the Young-At- Heart Group!

We meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Some of the activities that we have enjoyed together in the past:

United Methodist Men Service Ministry

Our mission is to support spiritual growth among men, helping men to mature as disciples as they encourage spiritual formation in others.

The goal of United Methodist Men (click on the underlined words to get to national website) is to empower the ministry of Jesus Christ through men within the congregations of the UMC.

Everyone has different gifts, graces and areas of interest. Opportunities for participation at Fields include the diverse ministries of the church, such as prayer groups, missions, Bible studies, small groups in the Wesleyan tradition, leading and participating on committees, and assisting in leading worship service. The focus is not inward, concentrating only on those who attend a set meeting, but outward to all men, assisting them to engage in the process of spiritual growth.

Currently the men of Fields participate different study groups, help with events and assist with work projects around the church.

Prayer Ministry

There are several prayer ministry groups at Fields UMC. If you would like to be a part of this please contact the church office.

Weekly Email Prayer List Recipient=get on the email list to receive the weekly list and pray for the requests that have come in on Sundays during worship and thoughout the following week.
Online Wednesday Prayer group= pray with several weekly together via ZOOM
Text message prayer team= get and share prayer requests that come in daily

All are welcome to be a part of these groups!

Parish Nurse Ministry

The church has a group of nurses that provide blood pressure and blood glucose screenings several times a year for any on Sunday mornings between worship services.

Once a year they take blood draws and provide test results for common health issues such as diabetes and thyroid problems.

They are also available if you have health questions and can provide resources to places where you can get professional medical care.

Check the weekly announcements or contact the church office for screening dates.

Children and Youth Ministry

Children are the present and future of our church!

Spiritual Adventure (SUNDAY SCHOOL) 1st Sundays of the Month for All Ages: Join us in Fellowship Hall at 10am for a morning snack and then each group will head to their classrooms!

CHILDREN’S CHURCH (11:10am)

Our younger population of children have Sunday Children’s Church during our 11am worship service as a worship option. Children come out of worship after our “Let the Children Come” moments at the beginning of worship and spend a small amout of time getting a similar lesson in our Media Center. They return to worship during the last song and on 1st Sundays we hold Communion and the kids return to worship during Communion time.

Bi-MONTHLY YOUTH GROUP

IGNITE Youth is the youth fellowship of Fields United Methodist Church open to all 6-12th graders. Ignite aims to be a place where youth can come to be themselves and have time together laughing, fellowshipping and growing in relationship with God and each other. Our goal is to have a great time while we actively live out the word of God through our actions and interactions. Some of the activities you might find Ignite up to include: Bon fires, Winter Retreats, working at the Nehemiah Mission of Cleveland, Scavenger Hunts, Project Feed, participating in Sunday Worship, attending Youth Annual Conference and much, much more!
